My name is Tara Downs and I'm a 26-year-old English teacher and writer from Jamaica. I´m currently living in Spain and teaching English online, whilst writing poetry. I graduated from the University of the West Indies with a Bachelor's degree in English Literature, so I spend a lot of my free time reading and writing (and also on TikTok :) ). I love teaching because I love the opportunity to chat with interesting tiny (and not-so-tiny) humans every day. I love learning as much as I love teaching and a big part of my approach to teaching is making space for my students to tell me how they learn best so we can work together as a team. My classes are not usually very traditional because my main goal is usually for my students to have fun and feel motivated to keep coming back. I ensure that my lessons are as diverse and creative as possible, to keep my students engaged. So, maybe this week we´ll have a conversation class, next week we can do games or even a cooking show? Who knows? But as long as my students are comfortable, engaged, and learning, I´m satisfied.
