Hi everyone, my name is Teacher Karen and I am a special education teacher from the Philippines. I hold both a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Special Education, and have honed my teaching skills through several years of experience in the field.
During my three years of teaching in the Philippines, I worked with 3rd to 6th grade students, teaching a range of subjects such as Elementary Science, English, and Math. In 2018, I had the privilege of participating in a teacher exchange program in the United States, where I earned certifications in both Mild/Moderate Special Education and Elementary Education in the state of Arizona.
I began my teaching journey in Cedar Unified School District, where I was a K-8th Resource Teacher, working with Native American students with disabilities. After two years, I moved to Whiteriver Unified School District where I was a Kindergarten - 3rd grade resource teacher. In my previous roles, I had the opportunity to collaborate closely with teachers and parents to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with learning challenges. My passion lies in helping students maximize their full potential, and I believe that every student, regardless of their abilities, can achieve success. I was also responsible for identifying learning gaps and designing tailor-made interventions to bridge these gaps for my students. I take great pride in my profession, as Special Education teaching is both challenging and fulfilling. I remain committed to my students and work with patience, empathy, and dedication to ensure they receive the support they need to succeed.
My goal here is to help students across the world meet their desired learning goals. In addition, I am a firm believer that all children should have access to quality and meaningful education. Hence, I also want my learners to have a positive mindset to help them thrive on different challenges.
Outside of my teaching career, I find great enjoyment in hiking amidst cool weather and immersing myself in nature's wonders. Furthermore, I am a proud owner of two delightful canine companions, a pug and a maltipoo, with whom I love spending quality time and taking leisurely walks. Another passion of mine lies in exploring diverse culinary experiences, both through sampling various cuisines and honing my skills in the kitchen. I have acquired proficiency in cooking Filipino, Korean, and Mexican dishes.
I am looking forward to meeting you. I cannot wait to have enjoyable learning. Thank you! Â
