Keisha Carmona-Hurst is a dynamic speaker, educator, blogger, and author. She is currently teaching at the Art Institutes. Specializing in educating in urban settings, she is loved by all she encounters. Known as the “Urban Educator” Keisha has taught everywhere from Ivy League to local community colleges.
She received her B.A. in Speech Communications from the University of South Carolina and her M.A. from Regent University. In addition to her degrees, she has masters level course work in Early Childhood Education, Speech Pathology as well as Psychology. In addition to her degrees, she has attended courses at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and Cal State University. She holds a practitioner's certificate in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Neurolinguistic Programming. Keisha’s teaching and training interests include Culture and Diversity, Inclusion, Race Equity, Interpersonal Communication, Microaggressions, Business Communications, Human Communication, Public Speaking, Research & Writing, Oral Communication, and Quantitative and Qualitative Research Analysis.
In the Fall of 2022, she will begin her studies as a candidate for the Doctor of Education in Leadership and Learning with a specialization in Higher Education Leadership.
Keisha resides in Norfolk, Virginia. She has one son who just graduated from Old Dominion University with a degree in Fashion Merchandising. In her free time, she travels, rides her Peloton, runs a 5k every now and again, and loves to Salsa!
